COVERS & REMIXES

There are quite a few Sailor Moon covers/remixes out there, primarily of Moonlight Densetsu. The following were all sent in by visitors for your entertainment - thanks everyone!

PARA PARA MAX

ISHIDA Yoko (Otome no Policy, Ai no Senshi, Suki to Itte) produced a series of remix albums which combine popular anime songs with the driving beat of the "Para Para" dance craze. Her complete discography is listed on her official fan site Club Sweets. The Japanese albums can be purchased at CD Japan and the three U.S. editions (which have different track line-ups) from Right Stuf (vol 1, vol 2, vol 3) along with the Live in Concert DVD.

1. Kaze mo Sora mo Kitto - TV Slow Version (Sailor Stars Ending)

[ lyrics ] The first six episodes of Sailor Stars, before the Sailor Starlights appeared, featured a slower, ballad version of the ending. Then for the rest of the season a more upbeat version was used, and that is the version that has been released on all the CDs. Here for download is the original, originally ripped from an AVI file by Thomas Prevete

2. Sayonara ha Dance no Ato ni - performed by Baishou Chieko

[ Romanized Lyrics | Japanese Lyrics ] The tune for Moonlight Densetsu was inspired by an older Japanese song of the 60's called "Sayonara ha Dance no Ato ni" (roughly translated, Goodbye at the End of the Dance). Linked above is the original version, and here is a weird salsa cover by Takahashi Mariko. According to IMDB, BAISHOU Chieko has done a fair bit of voice acting including a part in Howl's Moving Castle!

3. Azusa Nigou - performed by KARIUDO

The song that played as Yuuichiro's (Chad's) theme in Sailor Moon S Episode 99 is performed by a 1970's J-idol duo called "Kariudo". The song was originally released on as an EP record single and an updated version was released many years later as a CD single. The MP3 sounds a little different from the version in the episode (notably the chorus). The updated version of the song may have been the one used in the episode. This information and the links to the singles were provided by Izak, who romanized the lyrics here. I don't know any more about it, as someone sent me the MP3 long ago.

4. HISAKAWA Aya

Mizuno Ami's seiyuu released her own rendition of Moonlight Densetsu on her 1997 album Marching Aya.The album's theme was that of a school sports day, and each song was based on a certain part of the day (hence, this song is subtitled 'The Finals'). (Information and song file provided by Tom Nichols. Link is to Hitoshi Doi's seiyuu database).

5. OGATA Megumi (Sailor Uranus)

Tenoh Haruka's seiyuu released two "unofficial" Sailor Uranus songs on her album "MO". I think Kaze ni Naru is a really nice alternative version of Initial U, which I also enjoy, but wasn't sung by Megumi. (Haruka's SMS character song is Kaze ni Naritai). Both songs sound very "Haruka". Lyrics are available at this Ogata Megumi Lyrics page.

The following information is provided by Karen, who sent me the files: "Kaze ni Naru" is a sound-alike to "Initial U" - the SailorStars single for Uranus/Haruka song that Ogata Megumi didn't sing. The other is "Shiokaze ni Nosete", a softer, love ballad. She [Megumi] said this song is dedicated to a "green-haired girl". Ogata Megumi wrote the lyrics to both of these songs herself. "Kaze ni Naru" is available on the album MO. "Shiokaze ni Nosete" is available on both MO and Aitai (which also has "Kaze ni Naritai"). A live version of "Shiokaze ni Nosete" is on the album Live [em:ou] Concert Tour 1998.

6. MINAGUCHI Yuko (Sailor Saturn)

These two songs were donated by Kourtney. Since Hotaru's voice actress doesn't sing in the Sailor Moon anime, these are a rare treat. Enjoy!
