- Where can I download Sailor Moon Background Music (BGM)?
Music from the Japanese anime is available on the numerous anime soundtracks. Since you are probably looking for a particular piece of music used in an episode, I have provided scans of the Music Box cue sheets so you can search for music by episode and find the corresponding track to download. BGM from the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon live action series is available on the Moonlight Real Girl Memorial CD Box, DJ Moon 1, DJ Moon 2, and DJ Moon 3. BGM=Background music and OST=Original Soundtrack. OP=Opening and ED=Ending.
- Where can I get the background music from the English dub (first two seasons)?
Only one CD has ever been released with the DiC BGM (DiC is the company that dubbed the first two seasons in English) and it does not contain all of them. The CD is called the Full Moon Collection. The BGM from the Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon SuperS English dub (by Cloverway) is the same as that of the Japanese version (so see previous question).
- Are there English language Sailor Moon CDs?
Two vocal albums (Songs From the TV Series
and Lunarock) and one vocal/soundtrack
album (Full Moon Collection) have been
released for the English TV dub. The songs used in the Sailormoon S and
SuperS dub episodes are not on CD but the movie dub songs appear on Lunarock.
- I can't find a rare piece of background music (BGM) on your site.
Some BGM are NOT
available on any Sailor Moon CD. Haruka and Michiru holdings hands in the windowsill. Usagi crying in the phonebooth. And some others that are frequently requested. That means I cannot get them for you (it's amazing how many people don't get this concept.) These BGM are noted as "Studio Library" in the
Memorial Music Box cue booklet. Studio Library pieces (SLP) were written somewhere
else, not originally composed for the series, and Toei did not have the
rights to distribute the music along on the Sailor Moon soundtracks. Frequently
these SLP are classical music pieces. See the Studio Library page for episode rips of SLP and a couple of the original classical compositions. Repeat: I cannot get you music that is Studio Library. And if it is a classical music piece that was used in the series, I cannot identify it for you.
TECHNICAL HELP
Users of download helpers like GoZilla and GetRight, please read the downloader
settings.
- How do I download?
Right-click on the links labeled "Download" and save the file to your hard
drive. If you're on slow connection like dial-up, try using a download
accelator, which can resume broken downloads.
- How do I play Ogg Vorbis files? Burn them to CD? (etc)
See Ogg Vorbis Guide for music players and instructions on burning to CD. Ogg files play in most computer music players, and can be played on a number of portable audio players ("MP3 players") by downloading updates - including iPod.
- Why do you use Ogg Vorbis instead of MP3?
They're better: better audio quality, smaller file size, and open source. Music
files are encoded as Ogg Vorbis in order to reduce file size while maintaining
high quality, equal or better to standard 128kpbs MP3s. Ogg takes advantage
of variable bitrates and that is why the kbps varies as you're playing. MP3s lose more sound quality than Ogg Vorbis files
because they are an old encoding format. Smaller file sizes means a greatly reduced amount of bandwidth is required to host files. That makes it possible to host far more files than would be possible if they were encoded as MP3.
- There was an error when I tried to download a song.
Your download was probably interrupted. A 404 "file not found" error message means the
link is broken. E-mail me to report this. A 503 error means the
server is temporarily unavailable, usually because you attempted to download too many files at once. If you use
a download accelerator because you
are on a dial-up connection, set the program to connect ONCE (how
to do this) or the server may automatically ban you.
GENERAL
- Where can I buy a CD I like?
Most Sailor Moon albums are out of print. If an album is in print, the album page (listed in Discography) will have a link to one or more stores that sell that CD. See Shopping Guide for
more information.
- Can I link directly to your songs?
No. You may download and upload any of the songs to your own web
space. I have been using Dreamhost since 2006 and have been very happy so far.
- What program do you recommend to encode Ogg Vorbis/MP3?
Quintessential Player or CDex.
Read the Software page for directions on using
these.
- What programs do you use to make your site?
Paint Shop Pro for graphics, Dreamweaver
& NoteTab Light for HTML, and Topstyle
Lite for stylesheets.
